"MindBlind": Snippet at 33K

The good Doctor is in the midst of coming to terms with the fact that someone has twisted his life's work to evil. A former patient is being experimented on without her consent and the only way he can help her is to flee the facility in which he works.

He pushed himself to a jog and thudded down the concrete stairs toward the exit. Pausing at the door, he straightened his tie and smoothed his trousers out of long habit. He looked at the glowing numbers on his watch. It was hard to believe only twenty-five minutes had passed since he’d left the lab. Just one more step and he would leave the reality he understood, trading it for the unknown. He placed his left hand on the cool metal door, an image of Kat restrained on the stainless steel table clear in his mind. Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open and walked out into the sunshine of a perfect June sky.

Poor guy. In about 5 minutes, all hell will break loose. He just doesn't know it yet.

*Cue evil author laugh.*
